Active Kyds has a goal and it's to inspire children and their parents to get up off the couch and be more active. This, I like. I have fallen victim to sitting on the couch and allowing my daughter play independently on some days and I shouldn't. I'm human, I know.. It happens but it's so important to be more conscious of it and try to be more active building an awesome relationship with your child. I want to build memories and know that one day, my daughter is going to look back and smile because she had an awesome childhood with her parents by her side.
One of the first items Active Kyds sent to us was a Pink Kids Tool Belt. I am fine with gender neutral products and don't follow the stereotypical boy vs girl when it comes to play, but I love that they include the option to purchase a pink tool belt vs the original brown one. My daughter was thrilled to have a work belt of her very own and loves to walk around the house collecting daddies tools and "pretend" helping with projects. Although, we do occasionally allow for her to hammer nails into planks of wood. When she is just a little older we will be able to make her belt more functional with the right kind of tools and projects to pair up with mom or dad and her.
The tool belt is made out of leather so it's durable and feels like it's high quality. I know it will last for many years. It has multiple pockets and sizes vary. on Active Kyds website, they share that the pockets can be used for: Nails, tape measure, pencils, etc... There are two metal loops that can be used for hammers, too. This tool belt can be used on kids from ages 3-10 with the waist measuring from 21-32". It doesn't fit my three year old as well as I'd like for it to yet because it doesn't have alot of adjustability but it holds up on her waist enough for her to use it. Underneath where it cant be seen, I just folded the belt lapped over itself and used duct tape to hold it there til she grows into it. I'm fine with this, as I know she will get alot of use out of it. The tool belts retail at $29.99. You can view the pink tool belt HERE and the brown one HERE. I'm just so excited to have found a kid belt that doesn't look like it's going to break after a couple uses. This is real and adorable!
The second item Active Kyds sent to us was the Kids Safety Glasses Black Stem. They are designed to fit kids ages 3-12 years old. They fit my daughter perfectly and she enjoys wearing them for almost any reason. They are clear and have a impact and scratch resistant lense. This is wonderful with a toddler because she tosses these safety glasses into her toy bin, on the table, on the floor... wherever she is at the time when she takes them off. Luckily they truly are scratch resistant. The only thing we ever have to do before wearing them is wipe off the smudges so she can see clearly. These safety glasses are also UV protective: CE. I was surprised to learn this. She has worn them outside a few times for play and to help her daddy with a project or two so I can see how this is important. I also love how the sides are clear and have built in shields. They claim to be flexible but other than the stems folding I don't really see much flexibility. They are wonderful kid safety glasses and I would recommend them if you are doing anything with your kids that causes concern for their eye safety. They retail at only $7.99 and can be purchased HERE. I have included photos below for you to see :).
The last item Active Kyds sent to me was the Kids Yellow Reflective Safety Vest. This is made very well. I am pleased with how reflective it is and that the two bands wrapped around the vest are wide enough to catch any light to increase its visibility. This safety vest can be used for numerous situations. Its great for: family outings like a fair, evening walks, biking, camping, trick or treating, dressing up, etc... I love that its machine washable because we all know that is a MUST when its a piece of clothing you put on your child. I haven't washed it yet but it looks like it would hold up well in the washer. I'd be afraid to dry it though, the material is very lightweight and thin, but durable for wearing.
The kids yellow reflective safety vest is designed to fit a size small. Age range: 3-8 years old. It's a little big on my daughter without her coat on but definitely wearable and worth having to increase visibility for our many night outings especially during the Summer. We are that family you will see out catching fireflies, looking for toads, and catching moths. My daughter LOVES bugs and some of them we happen to only see toward evening. The front of the vest just overlaps alittle and has velcro to fasten it shut so your child could easily put it on and take it off. My daughter also loves to use her vest for dramatic play and pretends to be a construction worker and will put on a hard hat with her safety glasses for play. I love the creativity in this child and with the Active Kyds products!! The vest retails at only $8.99 and can be seen HERE.
I didn't get the pleasure of reviewing it but they also sell a Kids Adjustable Hard Hat, too!!
Overall I am very happy with Active Kyds products and feel like they would be suitable for gift giving and for anyone who likes to have a little work buddy, wants to get up off the couch and build something together, or enjoy family walks after dinner.
