We received the "Dreamy Dog" Bright Time Buddy and my daughter adores it. I don't mind her taking it to bed with her or carrying it around because the body is soft and she can squeeze it. I know it's not going to hurt her and she can lay in bed with it comfortably.
I do find it kind of odd that the dog is painted with blue instead of a more natural color and it is on there kind of messy, but it makes it kind of fun and unique and my daughter doesn't mind. It's a good lesson to teach that everything doesn't have to be perfect for us to enjoy it.
There is a little container inserted inside the body from the bottom that houses the batteries. I had no problem installing the batteries and putting it back together. You will need 3 AAA batteries for it to operate. I do like that the container that holds the batteries requires for an adult to unscrew it to get the batteries out. I often worry about my daughter getting ahold of batteries from certain toys, but I don't have to worry about this one.
You can simply turn your Bright Time Buddies on by pushing on the top of the head. There are a few options. If you push it once, it will cycle through multiple soft glow colors that include: Green, Blue, and Yellow. My daughter loves this one when she isn't quite ready to fall asleep. If you push the button again on the color that you like, it will stay that color. So, if you are looking for a specific color to keep it on, just wait for that color to appear and push the button so it stays there. If you push the button a third time, it shuts off. My daughter understands how it works and she will be 3 this month. It's very easy to use and so cute. It's the perfect size for her to cuddle with falling asleep. It doesn't get warm or hot and this comforts me.
After one hour of continuous light on, it will shut off on its own.
Its the perfect size for traveling too. We have taken it acrossed the state to visit her grandparents and during our camping trips. So my daughter always has her buddy and soft light to help her fall asleep when we are somewhere new. This is familiar to her and helps her ease into sleep.
I do wish this product included an adapter to charge it so I didn't have to go through batteries so much, so I'm hoping to see one added in the future from Bright Time Buddies.
